We are proud distributors of the new Rhoss POKER290, a ground-breaking new range of high-temperature, low global warming potential (GWP) air-cooled reversible heat pumps with silent, brushless EC axial fans and state-of-the-art compressors.

This dedicated heat pump is designed to produce exceptionally high water temperatures and a wide span of operational limits. It features high efficiency scroll hermetic compressors and natural, non-toxic, eco-friendly R290 (propane) refrigerant gas which has a GWP of just 3 (compared with a GWP of 2,088 for R410A refrigerant typically used in heat pumps) so there are no harmful greenhouse gas emissions or F-gas requirements.

Suitable for an extensive range of applications – including hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, theatres, universities, hospitals, and nursing homes – the modular POKER290 allows heating capacity to be increased according to plant load requirements.

This is achieved simply and quickly by connecting up to four units via the new Rhoss integrated electronic dynamic sequencer – SDR – which includes the domestic hot water production sequenced management covering a capacity range from around 48 to 190kW.

The sequencer enables systems to accommodate the most diverse installation requirements and increases in plant output. Each unit of the group can be connected to external building management system.

High efficiency heat pump

Offering high efficiency both at full and partial loads (COP in A class, SCOP 3,2 MT, SCOP 3,81 LT, A+ Class), POKER290 modules are completely independent but managed in a synergic way.

The heat pump’s modular feature also ensures full system redundancy for the ultimate in reliability.

The versatile POKER290 is suitable for all kind of installations, whether new construction, or integration into an existing boiler heating system. It is designed to work at peak efficiency in cold, temperate, and hot climates with water produced at temperatures up to 75°C with outdoor air as low as -20°C.

Heat & air conditioning

In addition to the large winter operating range, it is possible to make the most of the heat pump in summer mode, producing cold water for air conditioning as well as chilled water at low temperatures (down to -10°C) for industrial processes, for example, or food & beverage applications such as wine storage applications.

The refrigerant charge is less than 5kg for any kind of installation, thus maximising safety and allowing for outdoor installation without any restrictions with regard to use or access. In the unlikely event of leaks, detection is fast with prompt intervention of evacuation systems.

Moreover, the heat pump is fitted with an infrared gas sensor; if there is a refrigerant leak, the unit is automatically disconnected from power supply and the technical compartment is ventilated to prevent the formation of hazardous atmospheres.

Other features of the POKER290 include Integrated anti-legionella cycle management, a single refrigerant circuit, and fixed speed compressor configuration, with low noise operation of just 76dB(A).

Heat recovery

Partial heat recovery is possible through a desuperheater and there is a three-way valve control for domestic hot water production during summer/winter operation.

Furthermore, easy, complete accessibility to the unit makes it fast and simple to service and maintain.

Finally, there is an option for centralised unit management via a touch screen and the POKER290 is interfaceable with Rhoss’s System Touch Manager (SYS-TO) system to allow the full management of fan coils, air handling unit, and auxiliary sources.

SYS-TO offers a simple but effective interface to control and program the conditions of the individual rooms of a building, as well as managing the main system components and the room terminals from a single point.

The POKER290 range also offers a series of energy saving functions for the management of generators, the production of domestic hot water, the distribution network, and terminal units such as management that allows 10 summer/winter bands to be programmed at two temperature levels. All of this can be managed with a local network and remote monitoring via the web.
