HOW DOES THE AIR IONISER WORK?
As air passes over the ioniser, millions of positively and negatively charged ions are formed – just like in the natural environment. These ‘bipolar’ ions disperse into the occupied space through the duct system, attacking airborne contaminants where they cause the most problems for occupants.
SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE
There is solid proof that air ionisation technology works. Tests conducted by the Spanish government show a reduction in a coronavirus surrogate by 99% airborne and 80% on surfaces in 10 minutes.
Testing on air ionisation conducted by a specialist HVAC company based in Madrid, backed by the Spanish Ministry of Defence Biological Laboratory in Spain, showed a reduction of ‘MS2 bacteriophage’ – a surrogate for COVID-19.
The research tests were conducted in a Madrid hotel converted into a residence and confinement centre for medical staff during the pandemic.
An ioniser was installed in the fan coil unit supply air duct that delivered air to the test space. The bacteriophage MS2 was then nebulised into the test space. A significant reduction of the bacteriophage was obtained in the air that was ionised. This corresponded to a 99% reduction after only 10 minutes of exposure to ionisation.
Tests showed a reduction in surface MS2 bacteriophage of nearly 80% after 10 minutes between the test with and without ionisation.
PRESTIGIOUS APPLICATIONS
