Klima-Therm, the leading supplier of innovative and sustainable climate control and air movement solutions, is to present a Continuing Professional Development (CPD)-approved technical paper on the electrification of heat at the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Build2Perform Live 2023 at London’s Excel Centre on December 5.

CIBSE Build2Perform Live is the meeting place for forward-thinking industry professionals (including Designers, contractors, academics, and manufacturers), visionary speakers, leading industry exhibitors, and young talent.

It will feature more than 60 hours of CPD-approved content, 125 speakers, and over 100 exhibitors. Themes include delivering net zero and adapting to climate change and implementing the building safety reform programme.

The CPD presentations enables participants to continue to learn and develop throughout their careers, so they keep their skills and knowledge up to date and can practise safely and effectively.

Klima-Therm is a CPD-approved company which means its paper has been reviewed and assessed by CIBSE to ensure the technical content is of a high standard and offers valuable CPD to delegates.

Electrification of Heat

Klima-Therm’s paper will cover the reasons why it is important to electrify heating, the impact of using traditional non-electric fuel methods, and electric heating options available.

These options include heat pumps, which provide an array of advantages over traditional fossil-fuel based heating options. For example, they offer impressive energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions compared with fossil fuels, and can deliver an all-in-one heating and cooling system for both summer and winter comfort.

They also deliver lower running costs than the alternatives, are safer because there is no combustion involved in their use and involve less maintenance (and therefore lower service costs) than a combustion-based heating system.

Klima-Therm’s Electrification of Heat technical paper has three main learning objectives:

  • Explain refrigeration cycle principle for chillers and heat pumps.
  • Examine heat pump options and their advantages and disadvantages.
  • Understand how to choose the right type of electric heating option for the right application.

CIBSE Build2Perform Live 2023 takes place at London’s Excel Centre – an international exhibition and convention Centre in the Custom House area of Newham, East London – on December 5 and 6. Those attending will include key decision-makers in the industry alongside government officials, senior management, facility managers, consultants, property development companies and experts across the spectrum of the building service sector.

The event, which has is evolved from CIBSE’s Building Performance Conference and Exhibition, dedicated to helping built environment professionals and the wider supply chain improve efficiency and save money through effective building services.
